Philip R. Harris

Philip R. Harris is a management and space psychologist, author, and futurist. President of Harris International in La Jolla, California, he has been engaged in a global management consulting practice for the past 43 years. He earned a bachelor’s degree in management from St. John’s University; an M.S. and a Ph.D. in psychology from Fordham University; and a psychology license
from the University of the State of New York. He is listed in several biographical directories, including Who’s Who in America and theInternational Authors and Writers’ Who’s Who.

As a behavioral scientist, Dr. Harris has been engaged in international leader- ship, management, and human resource development for over four decades. Throughout his career, Phil’s research and writings have focused on education and management, especially on the topics of change, culture, and communication. He has authored or edited some 43 books, the latest being Managing the Knowledge Culture,published in 2005 by Human Resource Development Press. HRD previously published his three-volume series The New Work Culture (www.hrdpress.com). Harris is co-author of Managing Cultural Differences, part of a 12-volume MCD seriesthat he co-edits for Butterworth-Heinemann/Elsevier Science. Prentice Hall is publishing the third edition of Multicultural Law Enforcement, which he also co-authored. In his retirement, Phil has become a space psychologist, and has written two books on off-world challenges: Living and Working in Space (2nd edition), and a debut novel entitled Launch Out, which focuses on lunar industrialization and settlement.
