Joyce Kaser

 

Joyce S. Kaser (EdD, American University, Washington, D.C.), is a Senior Program Associate with West Ed. She is first author of Leading Every Day (Corwin, 2002), which received the National Staff Development Council’s award as Book of the Year. This book is a guide to leading education reform efforts. It brings together her work in professional development, evaluation, change management, lifelong learning, and group leadership.

Dr. Kaser is also primary author of Enhancing Program Quality in Science and Mathematics, published by Corwin Press (1999) This book presents an approach, called profiling, to formative evaluation of programs that support mathematics and science education. Over the past decade, Dr. Kaser has been one of the key developers of this methodology. She has also been an evaluator of state, urban, and local systematic change efforts, along with numerous national and statewide professional development programs. Currently, she is developing a user-friendly guide for selecting quality professional development in science and is the co-principal investigator of research for an online learning program. She assists a major professional development provider implement profiling as its approach to quality assurance. A former teacher and school administrator, Dr. Kaser is coauthor of a change management methodology for use in education, along with a risk analysis assessment process for large system interventions.
